Alpina Gruen Gilde

Another pocket watch for the collection. I bought this for the marking that is at the 6-o'clock position:

I've a few other 'Gilde' marked watches and I had always assumed that the 'Gilde' name was just another sub-branded Alpina (like the Siegerin watches) and post Gruen's departure from the collaboration. Not sure what to think. Stuff to ponder: When did the Gilde name start (and yes, I know that it is gilde = guild)? Did the use outlast the split of Alpina and Gruen? Was it contemporaneous to Siegerin?

Here is the rest of the watch, cased in a chromed nickel case.
Caliber 355, 18-ligne in size.

I'll go further out onto the limb here and suggest that the case style (not the dial) is a match to this watch, with the Star Watch Case Co. made case:

Gruen Baron Pictures and Questions

New member here. I inherited my grandfather's Gruen, which I think is a Baron; don't know the year; any help with that would be appreciated. My grandfather died in 1969, so the watch has been sitting in a drawer since then. I would like to get it running with a new crystal and cleaned a little. Is there a service that you folks recommend? I would appreciate any comments that you may have. Thanks, and I am looking forward to spending some time with the community.

Of note, and I owe the credit to Cary for these observations: The cream and red are far more common. He suggested that the black boxes, which are not as commonly seen were for solid gold models.

Lastly... I don't collect boxes or generally go out of my way to pick them up. I specifically got this one for the papers.
