How to remove the back and movement from a two-piece wrist watch case [message #1608]

Tools needed: Bench knife or case opener. I like using the case opener.

If you don't have a case opener, find something that has a fairly sharp edge to it.

1. Hold the case of the watch with the back facing up. Find the lip, in the picture below the lip is shown at the bottom.

2. Using the case opener, pry upward under the lip. The back of the case and movement will snap free from the bezel. Note: I always have the watch band attached or at least the pins in place. I use this for leverage and it keeps the opener blade from marring the case.

3. The movement fits tight into the back of the case. Jiggle the crown and the movement should release itself from the back of the case.

That's it! The happy path to opening a two-piece wrist watch case.
