Having just completed 25 yrs in the insurance claims industry, I've found that every insurance appraisal is inflated. I've yet to see one that is an accurate reflection of the actual value of a jewellery item. They are a 'feel good' piece of paper as the appraiser wants you to feel good about the job he just did for you.
