Hello,
Earlier I was unable to post pics of my watch so thanks to info I gleaned from other members postings, I emailed them to myself which allowed me to change the file size (I think) .
YIPEE!! The pics uploaded with no problems. For all you collectors and watch admirers, please enjoy. As I stated in an earlier post, I am hoping someone can narrow down an insurance value for me. I think it's value is somewhere between $9000.00 and $19,500.00, depending on several variables I don't know the answers to; current gold prices, how many were manufactured, how many are in circulation, etc. It is my understanding from a collector in a different forum that most or all the production records were lost when the Norwood facility closed, so there may be no way to get the answer I am looking for, but any info is definitely appreciated.
Thanks,
Bob L.

Um, yeah......that's worth a small fortune!!!! I do not see these chromos that often. Maybe Barney, Mr Hurt, or some of the others can weigh in on the value. I have no idea what this may be worth, but its a beautiful watch, and of considerable value.
Kindest Regards,
Tomas

Bob,
it is not easy to determine a value of a vintage watch. A vintage watch is always exactly worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Your watch is pretty rare and technically outstanding. Plus it is in pristine shape, so I assume that a number of serious collectors would be interested. That should lead to a sales price in the 3 to 5k$ range.
I personally would not spend that money currently but I know others might do...
Best regards
Barney

I tend to agree with Barney's ballpark estimate. And, Bob, I also agree that it's too rare to really pin down an accurate value, which leaves Barney's estimate just that - an estimate. I can't imagine that it wouldn't fetch at least $3000, but at the same time, wouldn't be shocked to find that the right buyer would pay significantly more than $5000 either. Just doing a little preliminary searching, wind indicators in general do seem to add a significant premium. But there are so many variables that it's way beyond my scope of knowledge to say how that would translate to this watch. Most of us here have a pretty good grasp of the wristwatch market. Speaking for myself, my limited knowledge of pocket watch values is largely incidental to my searching for wristwatches. And I suspect the same is true for many others here. On the other forum, somebody mentioned Art Bissell. He's not a member here or at vintagewatchforums.com, but if somebody could get you in touch with him, I'm sure he'd have a good grasp of what this watch could likely fetch. Gruen pocket watches are his specialty. And he could probably educate you on the finer points of that movement.
